Dates with Almonds or Ghee
The humble date.
Yet here’s the simplest yummy and healthy snack! Move over museli bars and packaged organic bliss balls. Here’s a quick kids treat to give them!
Cheaper and full of vitamins, minerals and protein.
You won’t resist them either.
Dates are a POWERHOUSE of NUTRITION
They provide:
Protein
Loads of essential minerals: Magnesium, Selenium, Manganese, Potassium (building muscle and strengthen bones, reducing ‘bad’ cholesterol)
Fibre & good bacteria in the gut
Even boosting libido!
Vata people will LOVE the moist gooey-ness of a mouthful of mejool date and GHEE (ultimate energiser & nourishing snack for us). Unless they’re convinced themselves their whole life that fats are bad. Ghee is good .
If that erks you a little (generally Pitta and Kapha types aware to watch fat & oil intake) then opt for protein-brain-food option, almonds.
And if you have the time or forethought, it’s always best to SOAK and slip off the almonds skins. They are easier on digestion plus skins are drying which is more noticeable in autumn and winter.
