TURMERIC PASTE
Add a golden medicinal glow to your food & drinks
Turmeric has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb. Turmeric Paste is actually really versatile. It can be added to hot milk (the luscious elixir Golden Milk), boiling water for tea, in main dishes such as curries or stir-fries and used as a medicine taken a few times a day to help reduce inflammation of the joints in the case of arthritis.
Ingredients
⅓ cup Ghee½ cup Turmeric, ground
1 ½ tsp Black pepper, ground
1 Tab Ginger, ground
2 Tabs Cinnamon, ground
Instructions
Heat 1¼ cups of water with turmeric for 7-8 minutes. Stir often. It will become a thick paste.
Take off the heat and whisk in ⅓ cup ghee or extra virgin coconut oil (or use half-half). Healthy fats increase the absorption of turmeric.
Mix in:
Ground black pepper - increases the absorption of turme
Ground ginger - digestive
Ground cinnamon - digestive, blood purifier
Optional: 1Tab ground cardamom; adding this will make the paste more suited to sweeter things
Cool then put in a glass jar.
Place lid on jar once completely cooled. Store in the fridge.
It lasts up to 2-3 weeks. I mark that date on the jar to remind me how long I have to use it.
Enjoy adding this golden ayurvedic go-to remedy to foods and drinks to strengthen your immunity.
